Joanna Baillie - her life and work

For our seminar on Joanna Baillie our guest will be Professor Norma Clarke, the recently created Professor of English Literature and Creative Writing at Kingston University, whose biography of an early 18thC Irish memoirist Queen of the Wits, a Life of Laetitia Pilkington has just been published by Faber and Faber with great success, and for which she was recently featured on Radio 4's Woman's Hour. Her internationally recognised expertise in the field of women's writing has also produced two acclaimed books: Dr Johnson's Women and The Rise and Fall of the Woman of Letters.

Also speaking are Imogen Bond, the director of De Monfort and an Assistant Director at the Orange Tree Theatre, and Bronwen Carr, who has recently directed Witchcraft by Joanna Baillie at the Finborough Theatre (showing until 10th May).

This seminar will run from 10.30 to 1pm followed by the Saturday matinee of De Monfort which will start at 2.30pm.
