SATURDAY 12 APRIL
We will be hosting a visit from Glaspell experts from around the world, who have come especially to see our productions and to participate in the seminar.
There will be no fewer than 7 Glaspell scholars involved in the seminar.
These include Barbara Ozieblo, author of Susan Glaspell: A Critical Biography and co-founder of the Susan Glaspell Society, who teaches American Literature at the University of Malaga in Spain.
Also from Spain there will be Noelia Hernando-Real, who teaches English and American Literature at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and Nieves Alberola Crespo, Associate Professor of English and American Literature at Universitat Jaume 1. While from France there will be Emeline Jouve from the University of Toulouse.
Susan Glaspell's home country will be represented by J. Ellen Gainor, Professor of Theatre at Cornell University, who is the author of Susan Glaspell in Context: American Theatre, Culture and Politics 1915-48 and who is currently editing The Complete Plays of Susan Glaspell.
And also by Cheryl Black and Kristina Hinz-Bode.
All our guests are experts on Glaspell and have written about her work. The seminar will involve her life, the foundation of the Provincetown Players, an analysis of her work, her critical standing in the US and elsewhere, her work in translation and a particular look at the plays that the theatre is performing.
There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
The seminar will run from 10.30 to 2.30, with a 45 minute lunch break from 12.30 to 1.15 when the bar will be open but bring your own lunch.
Book early for what promises to be a seminar with a difference.
Tickets £10 (£8 concessions)
