Since 1986 we have run our own ‘trainee director’ scheme.
Every season, two directors at the beginning of their careers spend a season on attachment with us, assisting on productions as well as education projects and with the literary side.
It’s an invaluable experience that provides insight into every aspect of a working, off West End venue, with trainees also gaining experience of marketing, press, fundraising, box office and front of house.
We invite applications throughout the year with interviews in May/June to start in July/August for rehearsals for the season’s first production in September.
At the end of the season, each trainee directs a short piece as part of a double bill ‘showcase’ in the theatre.
This is a modestly paid position.
