Young Technicians
We have a limited number of places available on our Young Technicians course that runs from September - July. Learn about lighting, sound and stage management with members of our production team and work with one of our Youth Theatre groups on their end of year performance. For anyone age 12+ with an interest in technical theatre. For more information, please contact [email protected] It costs £100 to take part for the year.

Young Company
The Young Company is for 16 – 19 year olds who have a keen interest in theatre. Auditions take place in early October – anyone of the right age is welcome to audition, you don’t need any previous experience. There are also opportunities to get involved with design, technical theatre, directing or producing - not only acting, just let us know when you get in contact.

The group will then meet weekly on Monday evenings. From October – May they will rehearse and perform a National Theatre Connections production, and then in the summer the group will work with exciting visiting practitioners running masterclasses on all aspects of theatre. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to challenge themselves and learn new skills.

It costs £150 to take part for the year. Scholarship places are available – just ask!

For the last 5 years we have taken part in NT Connections, which gives young people the opportunity to work on specially commissioned new plays written for their age group. The production is performed at the OT, and then transfers for one performance at another professional theatre. Each year 10 companies are then invited to perform their production at the National Theatre in a week long celebration of the commitment and talent of all the young people involved across the country. In July 2017, we were delighted to be invited to perform our production of Zero for the Young Dudes by Alistair McDowell in the Olivier theatre.

A limited number of scholarship places are available for our Youth Theatre and Young Company. To find out more email [email protected]
