Cast announced for Christmas show Extra Yarn

We're delighted to announce the cast for Extra Yarn, our enchanting Christmas show for everyone aged 3+

Genevieve Dunn, Antony Jardine, Kate Marlais and Tarek Merchant will appear in Elinor Cook's adaptation of Mac Barnett’s award-winning children’s book, which has illustrations by Jon Klassen (I Want My Hat Back). Music is by Tom Deering, who has worked on the Olivier Award-winning In the Heights and the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Jesus Christ Superstar, winner of the Evening Standard Award for Best Musical. It's directed by OT Education Director Imogen Bond, who has staged numerous Shakespeare plays for thousands of young people.

On a cold, dark day in a dull, grey town, Annabelle discovers a box of brightly coloured yarn. She knits a cosy jumper to keep herself warm and finds, to her surprise, that she still has extra yarn. So she decides to knit her dog Mars a jumper too but she STILL has extra yarn!

Annabelle knits and knits and, soon, she’s blanketed the entire town in a rainbow of colour. Her fame spreads far and wide. It doesn’t take long for the evil Archduke to set his beady eyes upon Annabelle’s magical box of yarn but, little does he know, you have to have a bit of magic inside your heart for it to work…

Extra Yarn is a quirky Christmas treat for all the family. A warm, woolly hug of music, enchantment and never-ending knitting!

Extra Yarn is playing at the Orange Tree from 16 December – 7 January.

There is a Relaxed Performance on Thu 29 Dec at 11.00am for people with autism spectrum conditions, learning disabilities and other sensory and communication disorders, and an Audio-Described Performance on Wed 3 Jan at 4.30pm.
