Assistant Stage Manager - Last Easter

Job Title:                   Assistant Stage Manager

Responsible to:        Company Stage Manager

Purpose:                     To support the Company & Deputy Stage Managers and Production Manager in the effective running of the rehearsal process.   To support the CSM in delivering the prop requirements for the production, and to deliver backstage support to the cast during the show.

Rehearsals Start – Mon 2 March

Tech week – Mon 30 March

1st Preview – Fri 3 April

Press Night – Tues 7 April

Final Show – Sat 9 May


  • Fulfil all usual ASM responsibilities during the rehearsal period and technical rehearsals.
  • Along with the production manager and other members of the stage management team, liaise with the creative team and facilitate their requirements to the best standard possible.
  • Support the DSM in the rehearsal room running to a high standard, ensuring the needs of the company and the director are met.
  • Compile and maintain a detailed list of prop requirements, and support the CSM in the delivery of the required props.
  • Keeping a detailed record of all expenditure in order to help the CSM and Production Manager maintain an up to date production budget.
  • To undertake shared laundry duties and props maintenance along with the rest of the stage management team as agreed with the CSM.
  • Attend & minute production meetings as required

Skills and experience:


  • Demonstratable experience in relevant professional roles.
  • A team player with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels both internally and externally
  • Able to cope with the demands of working flexibly for the hours that a theatre inevitably demands


  • Prop making skills
  • First Aid Qualification
  • Fire Safety trained
  • Contract and terms


Title of post: Assistant Stage Manager

Salary: £440 per week, plus holiday pay and overtime.  Contract in line with UK Theatre and Equity Commercial Theatre agreement.

Hours: This is a full-time position. Hours are dependent on agreed rehearsal times and show running times.
