The Orange Tree Theatre are looking for young actors to become part of our Connections Company for our performances as part of the National Theatre Connections festival 2017.

National Theatre Connections is a nationwide festival for young people and companies from around the country take on 10 brand new plays, written by established writers which are then performed at their home venue and at a partner theatre.

We are looking for actors age 15-19, for the cast of Alistair McDowalls’s play Zero for The Young Dudes.

We will be holding a workshop audition on Friday 4th November from 6.30pm-8.30pm at the Orange Tree Theatre.

Please note: We are looking for 100% commitment and hard work if asked to become part of the company.

Rehearsals will take place on Friday evenings (times tbc) through school term time from November, with the first performance at the Orange Tree Theatre on Sunday 5th March 2017. There will be a second performance at our partner theatre shortly after this (date tbc).

If you would like to attend the audition please let our Education and Participation assistant know as soon as possible and we will send you a short piece of the play to look at prior to the audition.

Call Izzy Cotterill on 020 8940 0141 or email if you would like to audition or if you have any other questions regarding the festival.

Zero for the Young Dudes!

by Alistair McDowall

The inmates at a bizarre summer camp are plotting a revolution. Or has it already happened?

Spending a day watching their schedule of exercise, lessons and meals, a long history of unrest and injustice lies hidden, and as the day wears on, a violent future looms large on the horizon.

Alistair McDowall’s critically-acclaimed Pomona opened at the Orange Tree in 2014 before transferring to the National Theatre and Royal Exchange Theatre. His other plays include X and Talk Show at the Royal Court Theatre.
