We have made the difficult decision to close the Orange Tree Theatre and cancel any performances until further notice. We are saddened to say that this includes Youth Theatre, Young Company and all other upcoming participatory projects.
Thank you all for your support in these uncertain times and we hope you all keep safe and well in the meantime. If you have any quereies at all, please contact Izzy on [email protected]
The Orange Tree Young Company are an ensemble newly formed each year for those who are curious about making theatre. The group meet weekly on Monday evenings to develop skills in acting, improvisation and devising. They will work regularly with industry professionals and create exciting devised performances inspired OT productions – beginning with a devised response performance to Arinze Kene’s Little Baby Jesus.
The OT Young Company is for anyone aged 16-25 who is keen to develop their theatre-making skills, it encourages those who take part to work collaboratively, focusing less on the final performance and more on enjoying the process and making theatre together.
The cost of taking part for the year, from September 2019 – June 2020 is £200. We want all our participation projects to be accessible and inclusive to all, and therefore have bursary places available.
We want all our participation work to be accessible so if you have any additional needs or you need any extra support to audition, just let us know.

For the last 6 years we have taken part in NT Connections, which gives young people the opportunity to work on specially commissioned new plays written for their age group. The production is performed at the OT, and then transfers for one performance at another professional theatre. Each year 10 companies are then invited to perform their production at the National Theatre in a week long celebration of the commitment and talent of all the young people involved across the country. In July 2017, we were delighted to be invited to perform our production of Zero for the Young Dudes by Alistair McDowell in the Olivier Theatre.
