For anyone aged 7-16, our Youth Theatre is an opportunity to explore and create, meet new people and learn new skills. Sessions are led by professional directors, theatre-makers and actors who are highly experienced in working with children and young people, including those with special needs, disabilities and challenges surrounding mental health.
7-11 year olds take part in fun and dynamic sessions on Saturday mornings where they play drama games to develop theatre-making and performance, learn new skills and work towards informal shows at the end of the summer term.
11 – 16 year olds attend weekly sessions which involve games and exercises which develop their skills as theatre-makers, performers and devisers as well as challenging them to devise their own performances and embrace the full range of styles, forms and possibilities within theatre and the arts.
Youth theatre sessions support young people who are taking performance-based GCSE/BTEC subjects as well as those who enjoy it as a hobby.
The Orange Tree Youth Theatre groups encourages young people to work together as collaborators, placing less emphasis on final performances and more emphasis on enjoying the process of making theatre together.
