Hard Rain: the songs of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen
02 October 2016

Amidst the build-up to the US presidential election, Barb Jungr performs the work of two of North America's finest singer-songwriters and social commentators. Following her stunning Orange Tree debut in February, the show marks a welcome return for this internationally acclaimed interpreter of song. Barb will be joined by Jamie Safiruddin on piano and Davide Mantovani on bass.

Beginning as a singer and performer on the alternative cabaret circuit, Barb earned numerous awards, including a Perrier. Never one to sit still, physically or artistically, she has evolved through the years into one of our finest and most distinctive singers. Her exhilarating vocal style fuses her sense of jazz, blues and soul with elements of everything from musical theatre to African and Iranian folk singing.

In May 2016, Barb released her latest CD, Shelter From the Storm: Songs of Hope for Troubled Times with the virtuosic contemporary jazz pianist Laurence Hobgood. Barb and Laurence launched the new collection with four nights at Joe’s Pub in Manhattan.

Her collection of Beatles songs, arranged and performed with the acclaimed Emmy and Grammy winning musical director and composer John McDaniel, will be released in late 2016, alongside further dates in the USA.
