Fun Palaces

2 October 2016

Sunday 2 October 2.00 - 4.00pm

We throw open our doors for a unique visit to our rehearsal rooms next door to the Orange Tree, and see two interactive performances from our new Young Company on the theme of 'home' and what that means today. This one-off FREE event is suitable for family audiences.

Simon the Spider looks at the story of a young refugee through the eyes of a spider and in a new take on The Three Little Pigs, audiences can make their own music as part of a performance exploring the housing crisis.

This is all part of Fun Palaces, the annual, free, worldwide celebration of arts, science and culture returns for its third year. We will join 150+ Fun Palaces expected to pop up across the UK and globally in arts centres, swimming pools, theatres, universities, back gardens, castles, libraries, woodlands and more - and you’re invited.

The Fun Palaces campaign believes in culture at the heart of every community. Inspired by celebrated theatre director Joan Littlewood and architect Cedric Price’s never-built vision for a Fun Palace, Fun Palaces are created by and for local people, bringing communities together with arts, science and cultural activities for all to enjoy for free, celebrating the genius in everyone – everyone an artist, everyone a scientist.
